A lot of people in Africa, particularly Nigeria tend to spend a lot of their energy on recharging their little gadgets such as their mobile phones and tablets. When I say, "their energy", I mean that you'd see them carrying about chargers, phones and/or tablets about with the aim of plugging it into any available power socket they see within or outside their homes because of the unavailabity or regular power. Electricity supply in most parts of Africa is still not meeting demand but there is another way which many of them are not looking at and that's the pwer from the sun.

Africa has more sunlight most of the year round unlike many parts of the western world but we are still not making much use of it despite the fact that there are a lot of green projects now available in the market. Those green products includes solar powered gadgets that can tap energy from the sun and convert them to electricity which we can use for a variety of things including recharing our small batteries.

For the mobile phone, one can buy a solar power bank and this is a battery bank that also has solar cells which allows the battery to get charged without the need to plug it into a wall socket. Unlike a mobile phone charge which only works when one end is plugged into the socket or a/c supply, a solar power bank can just stand alone and still be able to charge a phone's battery. One only needs to keep it under sunlight for a few hours and it'll get enough juice to sustained our phone's batteries. Nowadays, one can use a solar charge in a remote village in Nigeria where there is now power supply and still be able to stay connected.

Solar battery banks or solar charges can also be used to recharge portable devices like our tablets or rechargeable torch and this follows the same principle we've already mentioned. You just need to let it tap power from teh sun over a few hours and it will be able to transfer that power to the device in the form of electricity.

As long as there is sunlight, you can generate electricity that will be more than enough for your phone and tablet. I've had a personal experience with it and all it needs is just the initial investment which is not too experience. I once bought a solar charge for N10,000 and it has been working well for me.
