Electricity supply in Nigeria has become so bad nowadays that many Christians now go to Church with their phone chargers to charge their phone batteries
batteries. The question a rational person would ask would be on whether the church is now a place for charging phones.

I won't want to outrightly condemn or approve this behaviour because mobile phones have become so popular in Nigeria and using them has become more of a social need than just want
Nowadays, even small primary school kids have mobile phones.

They need it to communicate, stay in touch and even do business and so telling a modern day Nigerian that he can survive without a mobile phone for 24 hours is like cutting off his hands and feet.

However, even if mobile phones have become such an important aspect of our lives, is it really justified to go to Church or a religious place that is meant for spiritual renewal with the sole aim of recharging your phone?

For me, I think it depends. Churches should not allow people to charge th eir phones during service hours so that it doesn't cause distraction from the main attraction. They could provide a place such as a room where they are charging outlets which would only be opened only when no service or worship is going on.

People should not be allowedbtod charge their phones when they should be worshipping God but thry may be allowed to dobson only after worship or service has ended. Providing a place for people-oriented recharge their phone should be part of the church's social responsibility to Nigerian Christians since ilackbof electricity is one thing many of th email lack.

Personally, for me, I don't fancy the idea of taking my phone to the church just for charging since I have a capable power bank that can keep it charged up for days. Also, I don't want my phone to be
stolen while it is charging outdoors because people now steal phones at Churches. A power bank is
cool way to keep your phone's battery charged up in Nigeria since there is insufficient power supply across the country. A 20,000mah power bank for instance can recharge a 2000mah phone battery 10 times before needing a recharge itself and you can even recharge them with a solar charger.
